Summersville Lake Retreat Celebrates the Opening of Two Cabins
By Marianne Taylor
The Summersville Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored a Ribbon Cutting
Ceremony at Summersville Lake Retreat to celebrate the opening of two
new cabins on Tuesday, June 28 at 12pm. Steve and Donna Keblesh own
the Retreat.
Guests met at the picnic shelter on the grounds of the facility and
were transported by bus to the new cabins. Each cabin was constructed
using green methods and materials. Native Hemlock was harvested from
the site and milled into the cabins. The great room in each cabin is a
combination of a kitchen, living and dining area with a balcony loft.
Bathrooms have ceramic tiled showers and guests have a choice of a
king or queen bed in the downstairs bedroom and two full size beds in
the loft area. The decks are private and house a hot tub and grill.
“We would like to welcome all of our guests to tour the new cabins and
any part of our facility,” said Donna. “The cabins are equipped with
everything needed to make your stay complete. They are perfect for
quiet moments and for those who need TV and WIFI. You can relax in the
Hot Tub and roast marshmallows around the fire in the evening. Have
any of us really eaten our last s’more?”
Following the tours of the cabins, the ribbon was cut and Steve spoke
about the newest project at the Retreat, the Lighthouse Project. This
is a recycling project, using a wind tunnel in the form of a 100 foot
tall Lighthouse overlooking the Summersville Lake. Currently, Steve
and Donna have started the Stair Step Project, in which contributors
can purchase a step or landing in the lighthouse. There are various
levels, including the Stair Step Plaque mounted onto the vertical
riser of every step, the Landing/Lookout Plaque mounted at each
landing at North facing the window, and the Compass Pointe Plaque,
mounted on the octagonal railing sections of the Gallery Deck.
“We are excited to announce that Papa John’s Pizza is the first to
purchase a step in the lighthouse. We look forward to more
participation in this project, which will indeed become an icon of the
era and an unique opportunity to showcase our state,” said Steve.
In addition to the plaques, other monetary donation levels will
receive a sticker or a special designed lighthouse tee shirt.
Following the ceremony, guests were escorted back to the picnic
shelter for a delicious lunch catered by Cultured Catering.
