Summersville is located in Nicholas County, West Virginia and was founded in 1818. The city was established in 1860 and is located in the central part of the state. The 2000 census of Summersville was 3,294. You can enjoy clean air and water, four distinct seasons, and a healthy lifestyle!
The Summersville Lake is West Virginia's largest man-made lake and is located on the Gauley River in Nicholas County. Summersville and the surrounding areas are packed wih fun-filled activities for all ages, some of which include boating and swimming on the beautiful Summersville Lake, hiking trails, rock climbing, mountain-biking, white water rafting, fishing, golf, and several area campgrounds for the outdoors.
There are many clubs and organizations in the area for community involvement and participation of all age groups. Readily available is the worship denomination of your choice.
